CITY FISHING: Lucky Rainbow

We went out kayak fishing against this week. It gave me a great sense of freedom and relaxation to be able to go where I want, without having to worry if the water was too deep for wading of whether I was going to step into a deep pool and flood my waders. There was relatively no wind and we were able to reach all of the good spots from previous years and even explore new ones. Even though we got rained on for a few minutes, it was worth getting wet because we were treated to an awesome looking rainbow, which seems to have brought us luck. From around that moment we started catching fish after fish! We came in at the end of the day with a total of 7 smallmouth bass and 7 walleyes between the two of us, including a walleye double-header! Out of the seven walleye we caught, five were keeper size (between 37 cm and 53 cm this year according to Fisheries Quebec). Ryan and I always practice catch and release for all of our fish, although we do occasionally keep some walleye to bring home for dinner since it is, in my opinion, the most delicious fresh water fish you can eat. As you can see at the bottom of these following pictures, I filleted them nicely and prepared some tasty walleye tacos.
