High Waters

It's been a slow season this year. The water is still significantly higher than in the past 3 years. By this time last year we were wading in knee-high water and reaching all the good spots off shore. This year we can't even get half way there and we're wading in water up to our chest.  The water is also a lot colder than in previous years. The weather has been very cool for July, ranging in the mid twenties Celsius most of the time during the day and in the teens at night. By this time last year we were wading in swim trunks only with short sleeves but this year I'm still wearing long sleeves and using waders with long underwear. The colder water has also made the fish less active than usual for the summer. We're going out 3 or 4 hours at a time and getting only a handful of bites. At least the water is less murky now. We went wading this week and we could at least see the bottom. I'm hoping that the water level will go down in August to allow us more access to the good fishing spots. I'm also planning on doing more kayak fishing this season since we can't wade out very far.
