Kayak Fishing in Ottawa

Got a chance to go up to Ottawa for the Ontario Free Fishing weekend and do some kayak fishing on the Rideau river. What a fun experience! Also did some wading in the middle of the river in my new chest waders (thanks Dad!). We caught a good amount of fish all weekend, here are some of the highlights.

First smallmouth bass (micropterus dolomieu) of the day, caught on a soft plastic crawfish lure.

Another nice smallmouth bass (micropterus dolomieu).
I love the nice golden colour they have in this river.

Smallmouth bass (micropterus dolomieu) give such a great fight!

Dad caught a sauger (sander canadensis) on his lucky crawfish coloured crankbait.

Beautiful walleye (sander vitreus)
I've gotta get me one of these crawfish crankbaits!

Crawfish: the favourite food of smallmouth bass.

Closeup of another crawfish taken with my waterproof camera.
